So it's the twelfth of August, and it's a solar eclipse today. It's not happened for like 27 years since 1999. And I missed out on a golden opportunity, which I'm gonna tell you about. Maybe you've missed out on opportunities too in the past for different things. So share your experiences. And we're live, so let's go. Hang on a minute. I can't see a bloody thing. Where's the info? There it is. Oh, I just realized I even put my normal glasses on. Let's get these on so that I don't look like a complete wally. And I can see you writing without squinting. Anyway, welcome everybody. Welcome back. It's just one of our pop-up CBC lives that I did promise you, and they are happening. So uh welcome. I'm Carboot Chris, I'm a full-time reseller, just in case you didn't know. I buy and sell stuff, I flip it online for a profit, and that is what I do to make a living. That's kind of my little spiel that you'll probably hear on most videos that you watch on the channel. We do these lives. We used to really just do the Monday night lives, but I'm gonna I feel like just starting more lives. Like I said last time, I'm wondering whether the channel should just become a live channel. It's something that's crossed my mind. I know it'll probably damage the you know the the growth opportunities that you get with evergreen videos, but I'm not sure. I'm I'm thinking about it, guys. I'm thinking about it. I I kind of feel like need to do something a bit different because there's so much reselling content out there that you've got to provide something different. I think I said this on Warders Clobber, Luke and Simon's podcast. If you've watched it, I kind of said it. If you're gonna start a new channel up now, especially in the reselling game, you've got to bring something different to the table. And even though I've been around for a long time, I still I still feel like you need to be bringing something different to s to you know make your channel a bit different from others. So I'm pondering things in my head. Anyway, welcome to everybody who's joined us live. It's not gonna be a long one, it's gonna be like half an hour maybe or so. We're just gonna chat about these things. Managed to get hold of some, they're like gold dust now. But I'll talk about these in a bit. These are what I'm holding up because I might put this on the Spotify and Apple music and stuff for people to listen to. I'm holding up a pair of solar eclipse glasses, and when you put these things on, you cannot see a thing. Like it is pitch black until you look up at the sun, and then all you see is a little round sun, basically. So I don't know really how good these are gonna, you know, be to watch the eclipse. I guess it's better than burning your eyes, isn't it? Like staring at the sun. But we'll talk about that in a bit because missed opportunity right there, and I was nearly on it. I was nearly on it. But let's see who we got in the chat because I like to engage with everybody. That's the whole point of lives, isn't it? To engage with you guys. Married to reselling's popped in. Hi, Lin Lynn, Secret Carper as well. Scouse Dan, legitimate reseller. Jeff is in. He was he is a real reseller now. He's actually sold two things on eBay, so yeah, better than many of us, to be honest. Speed foot flips. Marissa Serendipity Bazaar. Oh, thanks, Marissa, for your comment. I thought the exact uh the absolute same thing when I went to pick up a pair of glasses yesterday, gutted. Yeah, I wouldn't mind though, Marissa, right? We'll talk about it in a minute, but a couple of weeks ago, I could have made this decision and I could have made a killing. But yeah, these things pass us by if you you know, it's a risk still, isn't it? You know, we take risks sometimes. Kev is in. Hi Kev, hi Chris. Hope you and Bell are well. I don't know how I ended up being unsubscribed, ended up missing a lot of content, including that's flipping news, which I thought was brilliant. That was definitely different, wasn't it, Kev? I said on that video, if we can get 200 two or 200, if we can get 2,000 views on it, I'd make another one. It's not quite there. So, you know, the viewership has to be worth the effort, and that that video, right, took bloody ages to pull together. Took a lot of work, took a lot of watching people's content, it took a lot of editing. I'm glad you liked it though, because I I really loved making it and I loved the outcome of it. But whether whether I can do lots of them, I don't know. I think maybe I should give it a go one more time and see what happens. But thanks, Kev, anyway. Speed foot. I've spent the morning with my daughter making our viewing box, tested and working. The plus of not having a boss and having loads of boxes. That's true, yeah. We've all got lots of boxes, haven't we? So there you go, we're down to the bottom of the chat. Yeah, so yeah, pondering things for the channel, I guess. I don't know. Give me your opinions in the chat. Like, I know I'd probably never lose like pre-recorded content completely because there's always a time and place for it. But I feel like I feel like there's room for something different in the reselling YouTube space. And there's not that many people actually do lives, you know, go live and interact with the audience. There's only a handful of people who do it on a regular basis, you know. Some people just pop up and they'll, you know, never to be seen again for like six months. But, you know, we've been doing a Monday night podcast live show. Well, it's it wasn't always a podcast, but we've been doing a Monday night show on YouTube, I think, for something like correct me if I'm wrong here, about seven years. That's a bloody long time to be going live on YouTube on one specific day on a Monday night. So I yeah, I was kind of pondering whether maybe this could be a live channel, you know. It makes life a lot easier, certainly, a lot of less editing. And now I've also got another channel to deal with as well. So this could be a live channel, the other channel could scratch my itch when it comes to the editing side. That's kind of what I'm thinking about, but it probably won't happen because there's always a there's always opportunities to do a pre-recorded video that you know that's a good video that can last forever. And I guess that's the problem because live videos don't last forever. Let's talk about what the title is, what the thumbnail is. So today, it's the 12th of August, it's solar eclipse day. And a couple of weeks ago, I was chatting to Belle and we were we ordered some some solar eclipse glasses so that we could go out and have a look at have a look at it with the with the eye rather than watching it on tele or whatever. So we ordered some glasses, and this was like maybe 10 days ago. And up to Monday, up to yes, what's today, Wednesday, up to like yesterday, which was Tuesday, uh, which is the day before the eclipse, right? And these glasses were supposed to have been delivered already, did not arrive. So they weren't even dispatched properly, like they'd been marked dispatch, but no movement on the tracking, so they've not been handed over to every or whatever it is they're being delivered with. So that left us with a mad scramble, and we actually managed to find a pet a seller on Amazon. There's none available on Amazon, right? Up to about Monday, there was none available on Amazon, all sold out everywhere. You couldn't get any in time for today. But yesterday I was scouring just in case, like the ones we ordered didn't arrive, which they're not going to arrive now. I was scouring Amazon, and one one listing just popped up out of nowhere. It said prime delivery, arrived Tuesday, and and I ordered them and they arrived yesterday because I was pretty sure the others weren't going to come. So we bought some more. I bought four pairs, one for me, one for Belle, one to cover up the lens on my phone so that I can video it close up, like zoomed in. And that left me with one pair left. And we put that pair up on Facebook Marketplace for a fiver, and it sold within seconds. Loads of people in your local Facebook groups looking for these glasses, trying to get hold of some. Absolutely loads. Every time I scroll on Facebook, people asking, anyone got any of these glasses? Anyone got any? You know, some people selling these individually for a tenner. I just sold them for a fiver, I only had one pair. Some people selling them for tenner, some people asking £20 for a pair of these glasses. Now, here's the crux of it, right? Here's the thing. A couple of weeks ago, or it was about 10 days probably, when we were actually thinking about getting the glasses, they were everywhere. You could buy these things on Amazon, have them delivered the next day. And if you bought in high numbers, like some of the sellers were doing, like you could buy a pack of two, a pack of five, a pack of twelve, a pack of twenty, you could get them down to like a pound each delivered. You could get them down to like a pound each. Because it's just they're just these crappy, like you remember the old 3D glasses you used to get when you went to like Alton Towers or you went to a 3D cinema? They're just these crappy paper glasses with like the appropriate level of protection on the front here. So these cost nothing like for to be produced. Uh but obviously the minute an eclipse comes around, everyone wants them. So I actually said to Belle back then, 10 days ago, I said to her, don't know why I'm pointing over there, I said to her, shall we buy a load? Right, and then the day before, or on the day of the eclipse, we can flog them for like five pounds a piece or whatever, or even scalp the market even further than that because people are asking more than that. And we we were like this, and Belle was like, Oh, surely people aren't gonna, you know, really, really want them that much, or you know, or maybe if you could buy some, you know, a bit nearer the time. Mind you, it was only ten days ago. But so we did actually buy more than what we needed from the order that's never arrived. We bought like a pack of I don't know if it was five or six or something. So we I and the plan was to flog a couple of pairs if if anyone was actually interested in buying them and sort of get our money back. But I had an opportunity ten days ago to just buy a shitload of these for a pound a piece, and I didn't bother, but right now I could get minimum five pounds. I sold a pair for five pound on Facebook, and they were they turned up immediately, like within minutes. And I literally could have probably sold them at £10 a pair, and I could have sold loads. So a missed opportunity, and that's what I'm talking about with the with the sort of thumbnail and the title and stuff. Could have bought loads of these things. The problem is who knows when the next solar eclipse is gonna be. But here's my tip, and I probably shouldn't share it because you'll all probably do it now. But my tip would be next time we hear about a solar eclipse, get on Amazon or get on wherever. Amazon's the best because you've got a the you have to like have the appropriate certified levels of protection, so you can't just have any old shit. But get on Amazon, buy shitloads of these, and then flog them locally, like flog them on Facebook Marketplace. People have gone nuts for these. Just like go on your local pages and just see people asking for these glasses. It's crazy. People are so one person said that she'd she'd really struggled to get some, right? She paid £20 for a pair of glasses from a website who also offered next day delivery, so like special delivery, which they then charged £18. So she she bought a pair of glasses for like £20. Next day delivery was charged 18 quid just for that. Next day delivery, she paid nearly £40 for a pair of glasses. Now I don't know if it was only one pair, but I don't think it was more than two. They often come in two packs, but she paid a fortune for these. She paid a fortune for like one or two pairs. So imagine what you could sell these things for. Missed opportunity. Let's go back to the chat. But it's also risky because you know, if you buy loads and then it turns out to be pissing it down, you can't even see the sun. Well, that's also been a waste of time, hasn't it? We might still get that, but I mean the weather's good today, but it does say on the app that it could be a bit hazy or cloudy, so that might ruin the experience anyway. I'm going to I'm going to attempt to video the our experience of watching the eclipse for the other channel, for our other bucket list channel. Because it's a bit of a bucket list thing, isn't it? You know, getting to actually witness a solar eclipse. The last one was 1999, so that was like 27 years ago. So I'm going to try and video it. I'm hoping that we actually get to see some of it and it's not covered by a cloud. But this is our other channel, if you want to go and subscribe and see what we make of it. Let's see what chat is saying anyway. Carper said, I think if you're going to do more lives, I think it needs to be regular time slots. Yeah, it's something I've been thinking about. But on the other hand, the problem is when you do that, Carpa, if you can when you commit to regular time slots, you kind of committed your day, haven't you? You know, if something comes up, then you have to cancel. So I think my my thought on that is Monday night, the commitment of doing a Monday night is already enough of a commitment. Like we've pretty much stuck to that barring, you know, not being here or being ill or whatever. We we stick to that. I think having another commitment, like multiple days, like like say, for example, Wednesdays at 12. I wouldn't like to commit to that because I don't know what's going on. I don't know. I could be out, I could be outsourcing, I could be doing stuff. So I think it it's a valid point that you make, and I thought about it, and then part of me thinks, do I want the commitment of that? Hi Babs, welcome to you. Speed foot flips. Imagine having a box of them glasses and doing a pop-up on the high street today. Oh no, imagine it. Yeah. Awesome. The local there's a local society, you know, like a stargazing society or something like that. There's somewhere around here that are selling them at a fiver a piece. So they're making money, you know. They'll be getting them super cheap. They've probably got boxes and boxes of them, you know, at five or a piece. But like I say, people selling them at more than £10. Legitimate reseller looking at the eclipse maps. Greenland, Iceland, and Spain are the places to be today. Where do you get 92% here? 92% eclipse, which is pretty high, isn't it? I've had a look at like the images. There was there was one showing different parts of the UK, like what level of eclipse you were gonna get. And I had a look at those, and 92% is quite a lot. It's just to leave the little slither, like what I think at the top of the sun. Kind of leaves a little slither at the top, but the rest of it, you know, 92%. But not gonna mean a lot if it's cloudy, is it? I mean that'll be a real, real annoying thing if it ends up being cloudy. Lizzie Scotty says, Afternoon, have noticed recently quite a few eBay live sellers are doing Whatnot 2. I tuned into one eBay live sellers, they only got four views, so logged off and went into Whatnot instead. Oh wow. Wow. I guess the thing is, right, like if you've done one or the other first, you tend to build up a following, don't you? Like, I was on Whatnot for a long time, you know, a few years, and you build up thousands of people that follow you. And you build up your reputation, you build up your feedback, and then you start a new platform, so you go over to eBay Live. And luckily, I do have a people that subscribe to my store on eBay Live, but your sort of live following does almost have to start again. So, yeah, that's interesting though, that someone was testing out eBay Live and then gave up and just went over to whatnot. I think you've got to put the time in, haven't you, to get the results. You can't expect results straight away. Just because you've done well on one doesn't necessarily mean that it's gonna be an automatic you're going to do well on the other, I guess. Uh LL11 is here. You you were late, you were 15 minutes late, so you actually didn't make it on time, unfortunately. Uh Speedfoot says the next solar eclipse is 2090. Wow, 2090. How old will I be then? I know what you're saying, I know what you're shouting. 2090, so that would make me what is it, 2026? So that's uh 70, 74, 74 at 20. That would make me 94. Mary Teresa, there was a garden centre near here that was reported to have the glasses in stock. Reported, like hot news, garden centre has glasses as a result. Total gridlock. Insane. That's exactly it. People are going nuts for them all over Facebook. Never seen people scrambling so much for things. No, the solar eclipse is later today. I think, well, round here, it sort of begins just after 6 pm, ends just after 8 pm, something like that. I've seen the timings of it. Shabba says there's a deep partial eclipse on November 14th, 2050. The next eclipse expected to obscure more than 80% of the sun across much of Britain. Okay, so there might be one 2050. I might uh I could still be alive to see that one, I suppose, couldn't I? But this is how often they happen, it's not very often, is it? So we're gonna we're hoping to to video it for the new channel, the bucket list channel, that we me and Belle are doing. So bucket list stuff, experiences, events, places to go. If you if you fancy following that, go follow it. Lisa's just answering Lizzie Scotty and said most of them have come from Whatnot to eBay live. I used to get a lot of stock on whatnot, but it's not as good as it used to be. Oh, that's that's interesting to hear, Lisa. So do you feel like Whatnot has less people selling on there now? I've I only go on when I've got credit to spend now on Whatnot. So I've started using eBay Live a bit more. The thing is, when you use eBay Live, you can also if you make the purchase via complete savings, you can get 10% off your order, your your value or uh value of your order. So if you go through complete savings, make a purchase, right, and then come back out. You have to keep coming back out, I think. It doesn't add them up like if you make buy five things. You have to come back out and then go back in on a new link on complete savings and then make a make your next purchase. Well, I think it registers each time you make a purchase. So you get 10% off your stuff. Shaber also says there's a minor, minor partial eclipse August the second, twenty twenty-seven. A much less drama dramatic event with a maximum of 45% coverage. Ooh. It still could be worth getting the glasses for that, couldn't it? Stockpile them now and make a killing. You might not have to work for the rest of the year. I reckon I could have solved bloody thousands of these things. Whatnot is trash as LL11. What about eBay Live? Do you like eBay Live? Rosie Marson's popped in. Lizzie Scotty got a notification today that YouTube is going to allow live selling looked into it. It's boots, MS, etc.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, it's not live selling. It's basically you can uh you can tag products. So say for example, right? Well, we got the glasses, right? Say for example, now on on this, when this video is finished, I could potentially tag solar glasses, and then if anyone watching back, they'll be able to purchase them directly from YouTube, and I make a commission on it, whether it be like 1% or 0.5% or something, whatever the going rate is for these glasses. It's a bit like Amazon affiliates, where you know someone uses your link, you get a percentage back. So yeah, but the only thing is these have to be available on YouTube's partner programs, whoever they're partnering with. It's more than boots and MS, it's there's others as well. These have to be available somewhere on one of their websites that they're partnered with for you to tag them. So yeah, you can do that now. I was having a look at it the other day to see like what kind of companies they were working with and stuff. You can let them auto-tag as well. Whether that'll be accurate enough, I don't know. Juan Future. Afternoon, Chris. Afternoon, everybody all can never catch your lives on a Monday, so always watch on catch up. Good to join in on this one. Hope everyone has had a good week. Oh, thank you very much, Juan. Juan. Rosie? And all the planets are aligned. We should see a meteor shower as well. All fun in the skies tonight. Ooh. Imagine this was the day that the aliens came down and landed. That's not true, Shabba. That's false information. 112. Absolute nonsense. Imagine if I lived to be 112 and got to see the 2070. It's actually right, 112. I think I'd be older than that. Actually, I can't be bored thinking working it out. Imagine if I lived to be 112. I very much doubt it. LL said went for a jog, but lives around this time of the best. That's good. Back in ancient times, eclipses were seen as a warning from God about some kind of danger approaching. Yeah. Yeah, lots of things in the uh in the ancient Mayan stuff, isn't there? You know, the Mexican, South American uh calendar and stuff about eclipses. And the sun worshipping the sun. I'm a sun worshipper. I do like sitting in the sunshine. Do you know the eclipse is an illusion? We live on a flat earth. Yeah. What about the flat earthers? What do they what do they think? Uh Lisa said, I feel like it's either people wanting stupid prices for stuff or it's just stuff I would not want to list on my eBay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01On Google it says the solar eclipse is today. Wow, that's something you can't miss. Yeah, it's today. That's what I said, L. Where have you been? Have you been hiding under a rock? Where have you been for the last two weeks? And also, LL says eBay, to be honest, is the best app to do anything. Never done live yet, hopefully soon, but people do better on eBay than whatnot. When Whatnot started, it was good. Nowadays it's trash. What's changed about Whatnot then? Is it just the people on there? Is it what they're selling? Why is it trash now and it wasn't when they started? Well, the thing I don't really like, and I've said it a lot about Whatnot. I don't really like all the little games that they have. Like the the platform games, the things that try and get you to buy more, you know. They have the coin, you'll have like what did have like diamonds. You've got to collect diamonds and the gamification, that's what I called it last time. Gamification. You know, buy more and go up a level and sending hearts and all this nonsense. I can't be arsed with all that nonsense. I really can't. It's one of those things that I just that grates on me. It's it's very much like TikTok, innit? TikTok, you can buy stars or I don't know. I don't know. It's just rubbish, isn't it? Just concentrate on making it the best selling app you can. You don't need to have all this crap. You know, oh, gotta make it to platinum level. And yeah, I never liked it. You have to, as a seller, you have to get involved in it, otherwise you just don't get anywhere. I understand that. And I also I was the same. I was like, oh, you know, great, somebody's bought loads of things and made it to platinum net level, but I find it quite annoying. I find it is going down the TikTok route very gamified, you know. Oh, hit as many likes as you can, and we'll we'll make it to a million stars. It does does my editing. Sell some good stuff. That's it. That's all you need to do. I really hope eBay don't go down that route, it would really annoy me. I told them when I started, and I mean they won't listen to me. I mean, don't listen to anyone really, do they at the bottom line? But when I when they asked me for feedback, when I started at like I joined with about five or six other people, and we were all on a Zoom call, and I said to them, you don't need to go down the whatnot gamification route, it's not necessary, and it's just annoying. And they were like, Okay, we take your feedback. And there's a few people who agreed with me, and I was like, Yeah, yeah, it is annoying, but they probably will. It'd be me next week, right? Everyone, hit those stars and get yourself up to the VIP level. Come on, bye, bye, bye. Get to VIP. That'll be me next week. You gotta send us as many bears as you can because each bear is a penny. It's just rubbish, isn't it? It's absolute nonsense. 1% lawyer. David says, is this actually live or is it pre-recorded? Well, I think we proved it there, haven't we? I think we proved it, David. Live. But if you watch it tomorrow, it'll be pre-recorded live. 100% facts. It's just like TikTok. Yeah, I think it's heading that way. I mean, TikTok does great, doesn't it? I just don't I can't bring myself to go on there as a seller. I might have to at some point, just because if that's where the money is, if that's where you sell the most stock, that's where you get the most customers, then you have to follow that, don't you? You can't just blindly stay on a platform just because. But right now, I don't really want to do TikTok. I really don't want to do it. But I'll never be closed off to it because you just can't be closed. Just if you close yourself off to things, you limit your yourselves. And I don't like to limit myself, but I never say never. I probably get about two emails a week from people at TikTok, you know, seller liaison or whatever, saying come and join us, have a go on TikTok live, we'll give you this incentive, we'll give you that incentive. But I just can't bring myself to do it right now. You know, I'm am I too old for TikTok? I've got a cat I've got an account on there, but I've kind of left it for a little while because I do find it, I find it a bit toxic. That's the word. I find it a bit toxic. You know, people on there just comment blindly, and you know, there's a lot of hate, a lot of drama, and I'm not sure I'm into it, so I'm kind of staying away from the TikTok. I've done stuff on there though, you know. I've had some videos do really well on there. You know, I'm not monetized, so I don't have much incentive to just keep posting for no real reason. Not when I've got YouTube, I've got Instagram and stuff like that. You know, why would I just keep posting on there? I mean, you know, it could be good for the business, it could refer people, you know, people can click your links, people can, you know, follow you over on eBay and follow you on YouTube. So there's that bonus, you know, the the extra exposure is there, but I just I just don't know about TikTok. I feel like it's a bit young for me. Uh David said I normally miss out because I'm in Australia, so this time works for me. Oh, awesome, David. Welcome. G'day. And David also said I've been listening for a few months. Live uh live the content or love of the content, probably. Or is it live the content? Probably love. Make an assumption there. Calvin. Hi mate, how's things from your neighbour down the road? Hi Calvin. Welcome to a live. Thanks for commenting. Hope you're doing well. We are fine, thank you very much. We've got some people coming for a second viewing on our house today. So the house is up for sale. We're looking to downsize, we want to get a bungalow. Ideally. But we want to stay very, very close to here. We want to stay as close as possible. But we've got a couple or a family coming back today for their second viewing. Apparently, they've accepted an offer on their house, and they are now trying to secure a house to move to, and they've already viewed this house, they really liked it the first time. They're coming back again today to look again. So, fingers crossed, everyone, give us your fingers crossed because I really hope that they, you know, want to give us an offer, and then we can start like thinking about where we're gonna buy. We've got a few, but there isn't really a bank, like a real banger of a house that we that is top of our list, but we've got about four or five houses or bungalows that we're interested in. And should someone make an offer on our house, we might go and revisit those and try and have another look at those. So, yeah, fingers crossed. L11 said it's good because you do social media, so it will go very well for you, plus you'll bring more people in, and you're never too old to do anything. Yeah, I guess that is true. Yeah, I'd like to think you're never too old to do it, and to be honest with you, there's people of all ages on TikTok. It just feels very, it feels very young, but there's people of all kinds of there's all kinds of people on TikTok. So you are right there, you are right. But I guess for me, I'm just reluctant to go on to put everything into another platform. You know, when you've got eBay, vintage, you're running, you're running Instagram, YouTube, you've got we've got the Discord that I run here as well with the memberships, your Facebook's, Facebook pages, and then we've got two channels, so you can double Facebook, double Instagram, double YouTube, and then you just think, have I got enough in my headspace for TikTok as well? You know, I'm on there, I've put a lot of content out on there, but I've kind of stopped recently because I'm thinking, how many places do you actually need to be on? Because at some point you just ain't got enough time in the day to even list stuff or get stuff on eBay, which is your core business. Yes, Calvin, yeah. Hopefully not too far. Not too far, hopefully. It's quite tricky finding somewhere as cl close to where we are now because they don't come up that often in our price bracket anyway. We're not rich or anything, you know. And Rosie said, I'm older than you, Chris, and I watch TikTok for various things. You just have to look at it. That people posted stupid things. Yeah. It is a bit like that, innit? You go down, you go down a rabbit hole. What's it called? Death scrolling, isn't it? You start death scrolling, not death as in you can't hear, death, death scrolling, where you end up going down a rabbit hole that lasts for about an hour just because you're scrolling. And worst thing is when you're in the toilet, isn't it? Like you never get out of the toilet because you start scrolling and you're like, Belle shouts up, what are you doing in the not in that voice, but you know what I mean. She shouts up, how long are you gonna be in there? And I look at my phone and it's like, Jesus, been sat here for like two hours. LL says, uh, what when you do live on eBay, do live on other platforms at the same time and tell those to hop over to eBay chat. Well, I have done that once. I've done that once before. I was live on eBay and I had another camera set up, and we was live on YouTube at the same time. But it takes it's a lot of effort that it's a lot of effort. Um, so it's not something that you'd want to do on a regular basis, I don't think. Yeah, exactly, Rosie. Exactly. Carvin says, I'll agree, whatnot is dying, getting more scammers, and too many people moving away from it. Oh, okay. What a downer. I think more people are popping over to eBay Live. Do you think eBay Live has taken a big share from whatnot? I mean, technically, I could I could sell on both. I could sell on whatnot, and I could do eBay live, but it's like I was saying about TikTok, I ain't got the headspace to do those two platforms. It's confusing because they're complete they operate completely differently on the back end. Like whatnot is far more automated than eBay. So you kind of constantly having to shift, shift how your brain works, you know, to sell on a different platform. So I kind of like I just want to stick to one, and at the moment it's eBay live, mainly because there's no fees, but once fees come in, it's still going to be cheaper than whatnot to sell on eBay live, so probably stick.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Simil casting to eBay on YouTube's dial up internet. Absolutely, Jeff. Yeah, and got pretty fast internet in this house, but it's still a drain. Hi Scott, flipping wolf says TikTok's more for Gen Z and millennials. You're probably right. There is people of all ages on there, though, isn't there? You see all kinds of people. Even like, you know what I find weird? Like, even the worst singers in the world are on TikTok, and they're getting like millions of views. Like these people who adds absolutely can't sing for Toffees, and they put out this content and they're smashing it. They must be making thousands just through being absolutely terrible. And there's people there encouraging them and in the comments. You go into the comments and people encouraging them and you know giving them suggestions for the next song and stuff. Maybe I just need to be like really bad at something to succeed on TikTok. What could I do? Give me some ideas. I'm gonna do five more minutes. We're gonna go to 45 minutes. Before we finish, has anybody else missed an opportunity like these, these glasses? You know, I could have bought I could have bought hundreds of these and made thousands of pounds selling them on Facebook these last couple of days because everybody wants them. You can't get them for love or money on Amazon, you can't get next day delivery hardly anywhere. And I could have bought loads of these a couple of weeks ago, ten days ago. Have have you guys missed out on an opportunity like that in the past where you wished you'd just gone on? I'm not talking about selling stuff from the 80s, and we all know about that. I'm thinking about like a snap opportunity that that once it's gone, it's gone, you know. Before we finish, let me know if you've got anything and I'll read it out. Other than that, we'll call it a day in just a couple of minutes. Uh let's get back to the chat. There's a lot of people moving over from whatnot to eBay live, says Calvin. And Lizzie says, TikTok drives me nuts, they talk so fast, and they're constantly the tapping of products. It is annoying. Let me just annoy you some more. Oh, oh guys, look at my look at my eBay book.
SPEAKER_00It's lovely, isn't it? It's a lovely book. I think the pages are just so soft.
SPEAKER_01When you turn the pages, they make this sound. I've not got the nails for that. It's stupid, isn't it? When's all this come in? People on I went uh I scrolled on TikTok the other day and I came across this person live and she was doing this, right? What's she doing? Not what you think, right? She had a muffle, she had one of these muffles on her microphone.
SPEAKER_00Like, and she was doing this I'm speaking very softly. Just imagine yourself being stroked on the head.
SPEAKER_01What the fuck is that all about? Why are hundred thousands of people watching that shit? It does my heading. These people earning money for nothing. It is me grinding, fucking listing shit on eBay and earning pennies, and there's people going like this. Bing, there's another thousand pounds. People sending them money just to make a noise in a microphone. What the fuck is that about? It does my heading. I feel like life is just taking the piss out of us. I'm looking for things to tap, that's what I'm doing. Just to annoy you. Take a look at my gremlin's tiki mug. It's made of ceramic.
SPEAKER_00Do you like it?
SPEAKER_01Maybe that's the way to go. It does my head in that, Lizzie. Tapping on things. It's pointless. Shaber says I chatted to someone on Whatnot Live and they Whatnot Live? Oh, on a Whatnot Live. And they also sold on TikTok and prep preferred the Whatnot platform. Oh, that does surprise me, Shaber. Yeah. Everyone seems to be raving about TikTok, don't they? Jeff, when shopping for a new house or a bungalow, do you research what type of internet is available at the potential place? I haven't been when we've been just like going and viewing our first viewing, but I think if shit got serious and we went to Actually, go for a second view, and I'd start looking looking at the details, like what's the internet like, you know, you know, and things like that. So, yeah, that that would come in once we're like thinking about making an offer. I would start looking at that kind of stuff. I don't want to be in a situation where we were in, like in uh in Devon, where in a first place we lived at, where we literally had like 16 megabyte internet, it was awful. It caused so many problems. Flippin' Wolf said it's it's always the crappy content that gets rewarded. The shorts feeds is dominated by them. Yeah. People click on drama, people click on fights. Yeah, it's so annoying, innit? People who have got something actually interesting to share or some knowledge to share, well, forget about it. But you're not, and you don't get the clicks. And you can just say, A up, don't worry about Guday and from Sheffield originally, but now live in Geelong in Victoria. Oh, nice one. Thanks very much. Go gone from Sheffield to Geelong or Geelong in Victoria. That's amazing. I'd love to move abroad. I'd be I'd I'd be inclined to go to Spain. I think that would be the first port of call. But if I would love to live in Florida or somewhere in the States, but I'd have to have I'd have to have I'd have to come into some money because the stuff like healthcare and that really worries me about the states. So I'd have to go there with money in the bank so that I don't need to worry about you know healthcare and stuff like that. Hi Chris, I can say I loved your chat on Warders Clubber podcast. It was informative. I've been following you for a long time. Oh, nice one, honey pie. I appreciate you taking the time to comment and watching the podcast. And thanks for joining us over here and watching us and whatever. That's very good of you. David said eBay life's just started up. I'm keen, but just don't have enough stock yet. I'd run out in half a dozen shows. Yeah, you've got to kind of source a bit differently, haven't you? Definitely. Yeah, Rosie says drives me crazy. Weird people, Rosie. Stop it. Oh dear. Oh, here we go. Marita Reese selling said we sold thousands of pounds worth of keep two meters tape during COVID. We were gambling on when to stop ordering, received our last order, and a day later, Boris announced no more two-meter rule. Yeah, this is the problem, innit, with stuff like this. And it's the same with the glasses, really. It can be a big gamble, you know, to go all in and buy shitloads of them. Because you don't know like how it's going to be received. You don't know if the weather forecast means that no one's actually wants the glasses, you know, stuff like that. So it's risky, but I guess, you know, calculated risk. But that's interesting that you sold two-meter tape during COVID. That's good. Calvin's enjoying the uh the content. Oh, Shabba. My wife watches the people who make annoying sounds, it does my heading, or the people watching pottery being broken. Yeah, it's it's just ridiculous, isn't it? Or you know that other the other thing that's really annoying on like TikTok. Sorry, I'm going over my time here, but the other thing that's really annoying is you know that the a lot of AI content is annoying, but the particular ones that annoy me are those ones where someone gets into bet into a bed like made of bananas or someone it's meant to be ASMR, isn't it? It's fucking shit. Someone gets into a bed made of marshmallows, or a bed made of oranges, or a you get the gif, gist, don't you? Who else has seen those stupid AI videos? Someone's sitting on a bed and it's made of whatever. I can't even think of anything. It's really, really annoying. It's probably my fault for watching it, but now I get so annoyed by those ones, I scroll it as quick as possible. Uh Speedfoot says, I wish I'd bought flags for people to put on lampposts. Plus, every couple of years they would sell at World Cups and Euros. Oh, okay, yeah. Do many people want to put flags up? You get a knock on the door from the police these days, don't you, if you put a flag up? So, yeah, it might not be a great idea, but it could be a genius idea. Dunno. South London resellers enjoying it. So annoying. Married to reselling had to break even on the last order, just shows how risky seasonal invent. Yeah, really risky, isn't it? But you can also make a killing, can't you? Well, at least you made your money though in the end, didn't you? Overall. TikTok's messed up, says LL. Legitimate Jeff. I'm gonna call you legitimate Jeff from now on. People are coming to a second viewing of your home on the day of the eclipse. They're looking for a sign from God. Yeah. And uh yeah, the LL's seen the AI bed videos. The month of your birthday is the bed you get. Anyway, I think we should call it a day because I've ranted a lot in this, haven't I? Pete, some things on TikTok, and not just TikTok, right? Instagram reels, Facebook reels, some of them really annoy me. And I think you're right about the tappy thing and the ASMR stuff. Since when is one? This is it, last one. Since when has it been trendy to sit and watch someone scoffing food? Like getting things that are crunchy, you know, these these this latest trend of these Japanese ice creams that have got crunchy outsides on them, like fruits, like fruity ice creams, like a mango with chocolate on the outside. When has it been trendy to listen to to someone go? When when do I wanna when have I ever wanted to hear someone eat like that? It is disgusting. I don't want to watch that. Why are people watching that shit? Eating crunchy crystal sweet candy. Mm, this is nice. Are you nuts watching that crap? What world are we living in now? It's absolute bollocks, isn't it? You're all crazy, see ya.
