Well, at the boot sale at the weekend, I was well and truly beaten at my own game. Maybe it's time to get a new job. My name's Chris, aka Carboot Chris, and I'm a full-time UK online reseller. I operate mainly on eBay but also on vintage and whatnot. I'm bringing a regular podcast all about reselling with a bit of fun thrown in too. Hopefully to keep you company to entertain you and maybe a little bit of education. Who knows? Welcome to the Everything Reselling Podcast. Hello, welcome everybody. Welcome back to another Monday night podcast. Hope you're all good. I've got an interesting one for you this evening. Well, first half of the show we're going to talk about how I was beaten. Absolutely hands down beaten. The second half of the show, we're going to talk about a new little trend that seems to be appearing in the US. And do you think it's going to appear here? And if so, what do you think about it? We'll talk about that in the second half of the show, so make sure you stay tuned. I'm Carboot Chris, I'm a full-time reseller. Bell is here with us today as well, aren't you, dear? Bell is back.
SPEAKER_00Finally, mate. Just I'm kind of back, half back. If I yawn a lot, I do apologise. It's not you guys, it's still me. But yeah, I'm back.
SPEAKER_03It's not you, it's me. That's what they always say.
SPEAKER_00It is. Chris has literally just woken me up so that I can come on the show. You can tell as well, you look like you're half asleep. I know. I know, but I couldn't miss another one. Couldn't miss another one. So it's gonna take a while for this to get back on track. Because I'm sure Kristen has mentioned, well, I've not been here, I've started my new job in the last couple of weeks, which I'm really enjoying. It's really lovely. But obviously, I've got M E, so the change in pattern and stuff is taking a lot out of me. Oh yeah. But I'm back.
SPEAKER_03And right now, Belle is gonna say hello to as many people as possible in the live chat here on YouTube. I forgot about that. If you're listening back on Spotify or Apple Musical whatever your preference of podcast channel is, then one day maybe you can come over to YouTube on a Monday night at 8 pm and join us live here and join in the chat live. But either way, we appreciate anybody watching live, we appreciate anybody listening back after the event. Are you ready? Are you ready to say hello? You've got one minute.
SPEAKER_00I can barely see straight, so we'll give this a go.
SPEAKER_03To get as many people in as possible. Off you go.
SPEAKER_00Uh we've got Angel Delight, Jamie D, Kevin Hawthorne, Lynnlyn Jeffries, Helen Graham, Deborah Sardine, Karen Evans, Rosie Marsden, Mark Hill, Lime Light Vincey, Cloud9 Allotment, Johnny Fortic, Fluffy the Muffin, Cloud9 Allotment, Jeff Davis, Pumpkin Picker, Janie Vu. Oh, I've got an advert. Um don't know where I was up. Jamie Vu. Yes, I know Bummy's thing's moved. Uh uh, uh I think I'm there. Alknax, Rosie Masden, Geordie Reseller, Kes TV, Chris Tyler, Nothing Major, Colin Lingus, RetroHawk, Peter Ray's World. And I think that's everybody. Um, unless I miss somebody when my chat jumped.
SPEAKER_03Just done it. One minute, that was perfect. Well done. So, yeah, welcome everybody. I appreciate your being here. Spending your Monday nights with us as usual. Very much appreciated. So, how are you doing? How's your you might as well give a quick update. How's your new job been going?
SPEAKER_00I just did.
SPEAKER_03No, that wasn't that you're enjoying it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah, I'm enjoying it. Like I said, it's it's a lot because last week I was back up and in the office again, so having to get up and do that morning routine and get out and just socialise and being in an upright position. Socialising. Being an upright position for a number of hours and not being able to relax as much. I will be working mainly from home once I've got through the training. So it will settle down. But yeah, at the minute it's taking a lot out of me. Having to use the old brain matter again. But yeah, the job itself is seems really good. Everyone seems really nice. And as tired as I am, you kept calling me weird last week, didn't you? Because he said I was being weird. But actually, I think he just forgot what old Bell, without all the stress of everything going on, looks like. And I did feel like a weight had been lifted last week, just because I wasn't straddling two jobs anymore, and I actually could refocus myself. So I might look knackered, but I'm feeling good, I'm feeling positive.
SPEAKER_03Okay, good, good, very good.
SPEAKER_00There we go.
SPEAKER_03Uh, I need to do a shout out. Of course, you might have seen me put it out there that tonight's Duck Race Prize is sponsored by Emsden UK.
SPEAKER_02Yay!
SPEAKER_03Let me see if I can find a little clip from Emsden UK. Here we go.
SPEAKER_00And for the people listening, that will mean nothing.
SPEAKER_03No, if you're listening, you've not got a clue. That was Emsden on their YouTube channel. Go follow Emsden UK or one of their three channels.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00And I am I'm super tired, or should I say, even extra tired today, because I did have my planning session for radiotherapy today as well. So they measured me all up for my machine, which is one of the b it's one of the bizarrest things I've ever done. If we've ever had a CT scon or been through that, it's strange. But yeah, so that that's tired me a little bit today, haven't I?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. So, right, what are we talking about tonight? Well, well, guys, what can I say? The title of the show, should I just get a new profession? Because I failed big time at the boot sale at the weekend.
SPEAKER_04You were crouchy at the boot sale. I was I wasn't in the mood for it. I don't know why. I wasn't in the mood.
SPEAKER_03We went to boot sale and I picked up a big fat zero. Nothing at all at the boot sale. Very unusual for me to pick up nothing. I did see a few bits that I like the look of, but I just didn't buy. I just I don't know what was going on in my head, but I wasn't in the mood for buying. Sometimes, because I I've got so much stock at the moment.
SPEAKER_00I don't think you were in the mood for being awake, let alone buying.
SPEAKER_03I've got so much stock at the moment. Sometimes it's in the back of my head. Like, I'm here for a boot sale. I love going to boot sales, but do I really need this stock? So that makes me extra, extra picky. I ended up buying nothing, right? But listen to this. I didn't find anything. But she absolutely smashed it.
SPEAKER_00Not intentionally.
SPEAKER_03You you take over. I bought nothing. Belle bought stuff worth quite a bit of money, didn't you?
SPEAKER_00Until today, I didn't realise this was even a thing. But yes, I did, I did buy not loads of stuff, but I did buy things at the carboo. And like I said, not intentionally knowing that they were worth anything or looking to see if they were worth anything. So yeah, I was looking.
SPEAKER_03Why don't you reel off a few things that you picked up that you didn't expect to be worth anything?
SPEAKER_00Well, the first stall I bought from, we've all we all know, if there's a child selling, I will always try and buy because I like to give them a bit of encouragement. So the first stall there was a little girl selling and she didn't have much. So I had a little bit gandering. She had this little pot bear, like money box thing. So I thought, oh, I'll just get that. I'll just buy it. It didn't have a stopper in the bottom or anything. I thought I'll just buy that. It was 50p. So I gave her a quid, she gave me no change. We didn't argue. I just left her that, so I paid a pound for my 50p bear and walked away. And yeah, so it's only when I came home and learnt from the best. I cannot just buy things and come home and have them. I thought I'll just have a look and see if it's worth anything. And it turns out it's I can't even remember the name of it now, but it's some collectible money box bet money box bears. Had it had the stopper in, it probably would have been worth about 25-30 quid. But without the stopper, maybe 10 to 15 pounds. But anyway, for a purchase of a child, just I didn't think that was bad.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_00But I didn't buy it intentionally thinking to resell.
SPEAKER_03What else did you get?
SPEAKER_00Oh, I bought I bought a little cup and saucer set, Scotty Dog cup and saucer set that was still sealed, like a gift wrap thing. And again, I bought it thinking, oh, my sister collects cups and saucers. Uh she'll like that for a gift, but because I came back and checked the price, they were selling for about 15-20 quid a pot. And she's not having that. So that will be being sold at the same stall as the cup and saucer. Not like me if I don't buy something Christmassy, is it? There was a little like what do you call it? Cut like a cookie jar, house cookie jar thing in a box. And I could tell from the box that it was old, but the cookie jar itself was in perfect condition. It was really sweet, so I just thought, oh, if it's five pounds or less, I'll take it. So I did. And I brought it home. And when I looked it up, it's actually a discontinued Floyd and something, omnibus Florence and Floyd or something like that, it's called. Never heard of it before, but it was discontinued in the 90s, and this particular design couldn't find hardly anywhere. I could find them in other designs, and they were being sold for£100 plus. So the design I found I couldn't find, and then I managed to find somebody on Etsy who was selling a similar one, and they had it up for like 160 quid. So I was like, well, that's not going in my Christmas collection, is it? So yeah, I got that.
SPEAKER_03And the thing about that cookie jar is I saw that before you'd even got to that store. I looked at it and I thought to myself, it's probably worth something, but I didn't want to post it.
SPEAKER_00But you said you thought maybe 20 to 30 pounds.
SPEAKER_03I thought maybe about 30 pounds. I couldn't check anything on my phone because we were in the middle of deepest, darkest whales with no signal as per usual. So I decided to leave it because I thought I don't want to post it. So she ends up buying it. She's now gonna list it and sell it. And guess who's gonna have to package and post it?
SPEAKER_00Well, I can't really put it in the collection at that point, can I?
SPEAKER_03No, if it's if you can get a hundred quid for it, then go for it.
SPEAKER_00What else? And then, oh, there was that little like a little a metal, little silver metal sausage dog that's a ring holder, but it was new in the box. And again, I was looking at something else on the stall, and the lady was desperately trying to sell us stuff, so I just thought, if I was feeling a bit bad, so I just said, Oh, how much is that then? In the she said, Oh, I'll take it for a pound. So I was like, right, I'm fine, I'll take it for a pound. Uh and it turns out again it's probably worth about 20 quid.
SPEAKER_03So she's just like dripping money at this boot sale.
SPEAKER_00Well, the best one I didn't even buy. Well, it's not the best one because the best one is definitely the cookie jar. But then after we'd been to the boot sale, we went over to another little village in Wales that had it did say it had a car boot on, didn't it? But it was rained off. But they also had a little church fair on. So we went in the church fair, and I love the tombola.
SPEAKER_01I love the tombola.
SPEAKER_00So we went me and free, me and Frixit Frieda went on the tombola, and unusually, we had three goals and won three times.
SPEAKER_03So it was your lucky day, I think.
SPEAKER_00I know. So we won a smelly disfuser thing, which Frida took. We won a Shire Horse ceramic horse thing, and then I won our number seven new in-box makeup set. So because I was on a roll checking things, I thought, you know what? What we're gonna do with that shire horse because you know it's not something I'm gonna collect. So I decided to look it up and I didn't even notice that it had a branding on the bottom, and it's a bezick, bezick England vintage bloody horse. Uh so yeah, that's worth about 20 quid as well. So, yeah, and I won that on the Tombola. So technically it cost me a pound. Technically, it cost me a pound. But yeah, the number seven thing's only worth about seven or eight pounds. So I'm gonna put that in my gift box. Someone can have that as a gift. There you go. But I don't intentionally go out to buy, to sell, but he's got me to the point now where I physically can't come home with anything without checking the price of it first, which is not good because that means I don't get to keep things to buy for myself. Not if I can see there's value on them.
SPEAKER_03I'm done. You you carry on. I'm gonna put my mic down there.
SPEAKER_04You carry on with the show, reselling with Belle.
SPEAKER_00Well, the idea is don't intentionally go out to buy anything to sell, and then you might buy some stuff. There we go. Come back. Don't leave me. You want me back? I want you back, but yeah.
SPEAKER_03Anyway, well done, you did well.
SPEAKER_00It like I said, it's it was I'm only joking with all this stuff. It wasn't intentional.
SPEAKER_03She did really well. I I just wasn't like in the buying frame of mind, and I missed stuff as well.
SPEAKER_00Fits and Floyd Lamblack Binti. That's what it is. It's an omnibus fits and Floyd cookie jar.
SPEAKER_03There you go. Fluffy the Muffin says, I will subscribe to Bell's reselling channel. If you had a channel now, then everyone would just go and subscribe to your channel.
SPEAKER_00Well, the problem is if I'm that flaky when I'm here, the channel would never be on, would it?
SPEAKER_03True. You're a bit flaky.
SPEAKER_00I am a bit flaky.
SPEAKER_03Well done, Bargain Bell says Geordie Reseller.
SPEAKER_00I know. And the problem is when I do stuff like this, it really doesn't help my situation when Chris has been trying to get me to become a reseller with him. And they say, I can't do it. I can't do it. And then he's like, Really? Can't do it.
SPEAKER_03Uh Deborah Sardine says, Well done, Bell. I'm worse. I sit in people's houses pricing up their stuff on the shelves. I probably would do, to be fair.
SPEAKER_00I probably would do too. Yeah. It is, it's terrible. I literally can't look at something now without thinking, does it have value? And the difference between me and Chris is I'm happy to go sell something for 10-15 pounds. And that's what I said to Chris when we walked around that car boot. I said, maybe you've got to a point now where you don't look at the small things like I was doing. You don't look at these little things thinking, like he said, you know, it might only be worth 20 or 30 pounds. Why wouldn't you still 20 or 30 pounds?
SPEAKER_03I wouldn't that is in within my selling range. I would I would sell something 20 to 30. I didn't want to post it.
SPEAKER_00But you're gonna have to post. Well, I've got to sell it, but you're gonna sell it.
SPEAKER_03Now I'm gonna have to post it anyway.
SPEAKER_00And I have put on the thing that we will post it, we will wrap it really well, so no pressure.
SPEAKER_03We will. We will. Me and you are gonna wrap that together. I think it's time you learn how to post post and pack things.
SPEAKER_00Excuse me. I do pack.
SPEAKER_03Only if it's like a t-shirt or something.
SPEAKER_00No, I've packed bags, I've packed other stuff. That's not hard to pack. I packed that candle I sold. And then after not packed. No, I not the Christmas candle.
SPEAKER_03I was gonna say, you little liar.
SPEAKER_00No, the Martins and Spencer's candle that I sold the other week. They're easy to pack. No, the lady had literally said, Oh, I've already had one and it came smash. Can you make sure you package it properly? So I packaged it without him. And when I said to him, This is how I've done it, you could see in his face he was like, Well, I don't know because I didn't pack it. See, and that's why I don't pack it. Because I feel the pressure afterwards of have I done it right.
SPEAKER_03But it got there in one piece. And that's all that matters. I guess I think put your hands up in the chat if you think Belle should package her own cookie jar. It's a big thing, it's about this big.
SPEAKER_00It's it's a little bit small.
SPEAKER_03And it's very delicate.
SPEAKER_00It's on the stairs. I could get it if you want and show it you. It's it's really cute. They'll show one mine.
SPEAKER_03Go on, you can grab it if you want.
SPEAKER_00My fits and floors.
SPEAKER_03It's not gonna help those listening on Spotify. It isn't gonna help. You'll have to Google it, guys and girls, if you're listening. Nope, says Fluffy the Muffin.
SPEAKER_00What? No.
SPEAKER_03Fluffy the Muffin don't want to see it. Nor does An's Den. Yes, please. Watch us smash it now, guys.
SPEAKER_00I know. See, it came in its original box as well, and yeah, it's got a price on it considering it got discontinued between 1980 and 1990s, so it could have been 1980s. But it was priced at 36 pounds back then. All I can say is this box smells vintage.
SPEAKER_03They always do, don't they? Yeah, I love that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So this, look at this.
SPEAKER_03Um Christmas on it. No, that's not the front.
SPEAKER_00This is that the front? No, it's got a door. That's the front. Look at that. Why wouldn't I put I picked that up for three squid? It's immaculate. It looks like it's never been used, to be fair.
SPEAKER_03It is, and it looks like there's not a mark on it. Not even any crazing, which is unusual for these. It's very nice.
SPEAKER_00It did have a dead wasp in it. But other than that.
SPEAKER_03So I'm sorry if you can't see this when you're listening, but it's a ceramic a really nice Christmas house that was made early 90s. Can we get it back in? It does stink that box.
SPEAKER_00It does stink this box.
SPEAKER_03Let's put it away before she breaks it.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03Send it every, says Chris.
SPEAKER_00Pretty sure this is the original paper as well.
SPEAKER_03Babs says it's lovely, well done. That's probably the kind of thing Babs would have picked up, wasn't it? She used to do uh this and stuff. Mind you, Emerson have got a booth now as well. Maybe that's something that that is a booby kind of thing, isn't it?
SPEAKER_00Hometown Christmas cookie jar. It is.
SPEAKER_03Well done on that. Belle went for it, I didn't. So props to Belle for that. I still think she can be a reseller, no problem.
SPEAKER_00Looks rather Christmassy. Does, doesn't it? And that's why I got drawn to it. Of course. Because it's not me if I don't go to a car boot and bring something Christmassy home.
SPEAKER_03Just put in the chat though. I mean, what I'm talking about with all this is sometimes do you ever get to the boot sale and you just you don't seem to find anything? And it might be that it's not that there's nothing there, it's just that you're not your brain isn't getting tuned into finding stuff that day.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but I spend most of my days with my car boot like that, wandering round. You're going around doing and I'm just kind of like glancing over stuff, not really looking. But that was only a little boot sale, and it was with your mum who was stopping and checking out every single stall.
SPEAKER_03So I had a mum mum's probably watching, but you know, when you go, you go to a boot sale with your wife and your mother. Right. I've done about four laps of this boot sale, and they're on stall number two because my mum stops and talks to everybody.
SPEAKER_00We didn't actually stop. I bet she did. No, we did not.
SPEAKER_03She was still talking to that woman about the plants when I got around when I'd done one whole lap lap.
SPEAKER_00I no.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, she was.
SPEAKER_00But I'll tell I will tell you one thing. While you were doing your two laps around the knobbly fee knobbly grassy field, I was helping your 84-year-old mother along it. So no, we weren't rushing.
SPEAKER_04Exactly. Well, I never said you were rushing, did I?
SPEAKER_00We were meandering because we didn't want to fall.
SPEAKER_03Is that what it is?
SPEAKER_00Yes. I did buy other stuff at the boot sale that I'm not saying. I bought a new jumper for work and I bought the jeans that I'm wearing now, actually. Which you never said anything to me about that jumper.
SPEAKER_03Which one?
SPEAKER_00You know the one that the grey one that I bought where you were like, Can't believe you've paid five.
SPEAKER_04She paid five pounds, guys.
SPEAKER_00For a Primarch. It was new with tags and it was one of the like Cashmere wool ones.
SPEAKER_02Five pounds.
SPEAKER_00And it w it was 17 pounds in But you never said anything to me because when I got back and I tried it on, it had two big holes in it. I know. So I had to get fixed for either to sew it as well. I was waiting for you to say something.
SPEAKER_03No, I can be bothered. I noted it. I noted it up here.
SPEAKER_00Your mum was like, We won't tell him.
SPEAKER_03I cannot believe. Right, sometimes, right? Belle don't like to barter with anyone for anything.
SPEAKER_00Uh excuse me, he wanted eight.
SPEAKER_03What?
SPEAKER_00He wanted eight pounds for it.
SPEAKER_04I got it for a Primark jumper, a boot sale.
SPEAKER_00I got it for five.
SPEAKER_03Oh my god.
SPEAKER_00So I did barter.
SPEAKER_03Well, you did, but you still got ripped off. And it had holes in it.
SPEAKER_00And it had holes in it.
SPEAKER_03I couldn't believe it. I said, honestly, you paid a fiver for that jumper.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I feel like because he had a lot of other like new we tags like Primarky stuff. So after I found the holes, I think what it was, it's probably like reject stuff from Primark, which because of that reason. But they were right on the um on the seam on the back here. So until you put them on, you couldn't see them. But freaks alright, fix it for you. Just started it, and I've now got a nice new jumper for work.
SPEAKER_03Very good. Emsden says they they have this problem all the time until they've had a sausage. That gives them energy. You know what it is?
SPEAKER_00We had bacon sandwiches.
SPEAKER_03We could get AI to do a little mock-up video, right? Instead of banana man, when they have a sausage, off they go. You know, like banana man. He needs a banana to get it going.
SPEAKER_00Chris says, Do you look at the seller and think I don't like the looks of you? So to if I'm honest, until unless I'm gonna buy, I'd barely I barely look at a seller. I try not to make eye contact. I try to just look at the stalls and and not look at the people unless I'm actually gonna buy something.
SPEAKER_03I do, I look at sellers and I I it's rare that I'll not buy from someone because what they look like, but I kind of gauge you try and gauge what the kind of pricing's gonna be like, or well those two, the cup and saucer in the cookie jar was like a it looked like a house clearance. Yeah, he was definitely house clearance. He missed a big one there, didn't he though? Deborah Sardine says, yes, we went to two large boot sales, bought nothing, because for me it's got that, got that, don't need that, no room for that, not paying that. Deb's very picky by the sounds of it.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03And Lionelike Vince said, I've got a question. Have you had any clips sent in for your new reseller news channel? Yes, I've had one clip sent to me, emailed into me. So please, guys and girls, if you've seen any funny clips, any drama clips, or any newsworthy clips in the reselling YouTube community while you've been browsing and watching YouTube, please let me know about any that you think might be worthy for my new little series. I've I'm part way through pulling together the pilot episode. It'll either be great or it'll just never be seen again. So I'm hopefully gonna film that before the end of this week. And I've been busy getting I've been trying to ask permission from everybody before I use one of their clips. And so far, pretty much, well, everybody has said yeah, go ahead. And some people have just said you can use whatever clips you want in the future, you don't need to keep asking. Which is great. You know, ideally it would be great for that. But obviously, people will want to see the first episode to see what I'm doing with it to be sure that they're happy with me using stuff in the future. Don't worry though, guys. You know me, I'm not there here to offend anybody, I'm not here to have a go at anybody. I just want to make some light-hearted content and something that's a bit different. Because sometimes a lot of the reseller content that we're all putting out there, myself included, gets a bit gets a bit stale, doesn't it?
SPEAKER_00A bit samey.
SPEAKER_03Bit samey. And I must admit, like, I'm I'm kind of at the point I watch, I consume a lot of YouTube content. While I'm working, I have channels just running and running and videos are running. And I tend to lean now towards channels that give me some entertainment rather than education. Sometimes I'll watch something that's educational, don't get me wrong. But normally normally I prefer just the entertainment rather than the education on resellers now. So I guess that's what I'm trying to put out. Something that's gonna be mildly entertaining. So yeah, if you find a clip or you watch something you think that's worthy of one of my new episodes, then please send me a message and tell me about it.
SPEAKER_00Ready Steady Retro says those days when you're not feeling or seeing it are the times I step out of my comfort zone and look for something different.
SPEAKER_03Well, you know what? I could have done that Ready Steady Retro, and here's an example. You know what I'm gonna say, don't you? Here's an example on on that boot sale. I did find something that I was very close to buying.
SPEAKER_00The clearance guy.
SPEAKER_03It was a clearance guy again, the same one that Belle got her cookie jar off. And he had a trumpet, I think it was a cornet. So he had one, it was mint. I swear it'd never even been used, like maybe one or two uses on it, but it was in mint condition, and sometimes like trumpets and cornets have dents where you know the brasses gone and stuff. But this was in mint condition, though it had a box with it, it had all the internal stuff with it. But we wanted 25 quid for it, and so I just I just didn't want to plump for it. I don't know. I didn't once upon a time, I would have just bought it and thought, sod it, it's got to be worth at least£25. Yeah, I couldn't get on the internet. I wanted to check the brand of it. I did have a look when I came back. Actually, it's not a well-known brand, so it wasn't going to be worth loads, but I reckon I could have got about 60 for it.
SPEAKER_00So and then when we were starting having our bacon sandwich, the table behind us had it. He was like, That guy's ball that trumpet.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03I looked over and I thought, oh.
SPEAKER_00But he also had a violin, didn't he? He had a few interesting things on that. I bet if we'd have properly looked through, I might um we might have been able to find some other stuff. Probably, yeah, yeah. He had that hand-drawn fools and horses.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he did have a nice picture of only fools and horses that was like by an artist of some kind of.
SPEAKER_00It's like a hand-drawn.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that was nice. I just I would I would have bought that for myself once upon a time, but I haven't got anywhere to put it now.
SPEAKER_00It was quite big, wasn't it?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Look who's joined us. Tam's reselling life.
SPEAKER_03What does that mean?
SPEAKER_00Tam and Bell.
SPEAKER_03I know that.
SPEAKER_00You haven't seen him for ages.
SPEAKER_03He's in the Discord, we've seen him in the Discord.
SPEAKER_00Well, I'm not in the Discord, so I've not seen him for ages.
SPEAKER_03Welcome, Tam.
SPEAKER_00Thank you for joining us.
SPEAKER_03Hope you're okay. Uh I know he's not put videos out much recently. We need to see more videos, Tam. Get your videos back going.
SPEAKER_00Jeremy Beadle. Watch out, Chris is about.
SPEAKER_03Who said that?
SPEAKER_00El Ravente.
SPEAKER_03No, it's not, it's not really gonna be gonna be that. Exactly. There might be some drama on it that I pick out. There might be some funny bits. I might take some clips out of context just for comedic purposes. But I wouldn't say it's gonna be Jeremy Beadle.
SPEAKER_00Registered Rec Show said that was worth a punt anyway. Musical instruments sell well on that place, too.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I should have bought it.
SPEAKER_00I did, we I did try to say to him just just just do it, just take it. But no, he really wasn't in the mood that then. I don't know, yeah. And everything was just getting on your nerves.
SPEAKER_03Everything was getting on your tits, it was.
SPEAKER_00And then we went over to the other place and the car beat was called off, and that was just a final one.
SPEAKER_03You know, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Completely off thing off topic here, but when we went to that the church tabletop and I was doing the tombola, and this I did it the first time, we fixed it free, and then I went back and did another one. And there was a lady in front of me having a go, so she she did she did her four for a pound, pulled the tickets out, and she'd won. And it was a jar of like pickled, I don't know if it's pickled pears or syrup pears or something. And she went, I don't like them, can I swap it? So this the two old days that were running it were like, uh, well, that won't that you don't really do. And she's like, Yeah, but I don't like them, I'm not gonna eat them. Can I swap it? I just want to swap it, just just swap the labels. I don't I'll swap it for something. And she was really going for it so that you could see these ladies like struggling a bit. And she was like, Well, what would you want to swap it for? So she went, I'll swap it for the bottle of wine. Well, that was it. I piped up, I just went, sorry, that's not really how um tombolers work, is it? I said, You kind of get what you're given. I thought, cheeky little kids. So as soon as I said that, it obviously gave the other ladies a little bit of confidence to go, do you know what? Yeah, you know, we can't really swap it. So she just went, All right, I don't want them and walked off.
SPEAKER_03Can you imagine that? You go to a tomboler and you want to swap your prize. You can't swap it.
SPEAKER_00I've swapped my shire arse for that bottle of wine. And she wanted the bottle of wine as well. Think of it. Oh, it did make me laugh. That is mad. I wasn't gonna say anything, I was like just chuckling to myself, listening until she asked for the wine. I thought, she kicked it.
SPEAKER_03Oh man, it's a it's a little church like tabletop, like very, very small village. It's probably about a hundred people that live there. So they probably all mind you, we were outsiders, weren't we? But I don't know.
SPEAKER_00She looked like a local, she I think she was.
SPEAKER_03I don't imagine there was many non-local people there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think they were grateful after I piped up because I did really don't think they wanted to do it. They were sort of like, and even after she walked away, the lady was like, wasn't gonna give a wine.
SPEAKER_03Fluffin the muffin says, Some people have no shame.
SPEAKER_00Can you imagine if we all went up to a Tombowler and went, Yeah, I don't want that price.
SPEAKER_03I know, it's mad, isn't it?
SPEAKER_00Oh funny. Hi Rachel, fantastic. Oh, Rachel Fantastics in the people's princess of reselling, says our vente. I don't know why I had um an image of Princess Leia then. Is it Rachel with the big buns? Oh yeah, big buns with the big buns with the big you do have big buns as well, but I meant the ones say that if you've got it, flaunt it, and she has by she got some. No, I meant Princess Leia with the buns on the side of the head.
SPEAKER_04Let the ground swallow me up.
SPEAKER_00Why? That's a compliment, isn't it, Rachel? That's a compliment. No, I'll okay. Chris has got a clearly different now. Can we move on, please?
SPEAKER_03Oh dear. Family channel, no more. Oh podcasts need a description. I don't think they've had enough descriptions.
SPEAKER_00I think they can put two and two together.
SPEAKER_03Oh dear. Big thank you to all our channel members down below here. All their names going across the screen at the moment. Thank you very much. We've got over 60 channel members. It's$2.99 a month. Please join. If you do ever want to join, please do it via a desktop, not your iPhone. Otherwise, you'll get charged an Apple tax of an extra pound. You don't want to do that. It's$2.99 a month. It's less than the price of a latte at Greg's, probably. And I appreciate everybody you get to join our Discord group.
SPEAKER_00Is it bad that don't work with me a driver after latte?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you probably would as well. But think of all of what you gain.
SPEAKER_00It's only because I love coffee.
SPEAKER_03Your latte lasts about 30 seconds. No, okay, two minutes 30 to drink.
SPEAKER_00You know I can make a lie last.
SPEAKER_03Most people are gonna down it in that time, right? But your Discord and your community lasts forever.
SPEAKER_00I do agree, it is well worth joining. You've never even been in there! No, but I've heard all the all the nice things people say about it. So I know it's you can't say that. I know it's a good place to be.
SPEAKER_03No, listen, right? If you if you don't know about it, you can't say it.
SPEAKER_00Okay, then I'll have my latte. Thanks.
SPEAKER_03No, you can't have my latte. The Discord is a good place, you're right. Um anyway, if you want to join, it's two nine a month. Thank you, everybody. Thanks for all your support on the channel.
SPEAKER_00Apparently, it's normally Andrew who mentions uh Rachel's buns.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah, I can believe that.
SPEAKER_00Podcast. It's okay though, you aren't subject to Ofcom rule on YouTube. I don't think I've said anything wrong. Not this time, anyway. David M Riesella has joined us. Hi David M.
SPEAKER_03Welcome. Chris Embarrassed.
SPEAKER_00No, not really. I'm just messing. He's used to me putting my foot in it and saying stupid stuff.
SPEAKER_03You're gonna get me cancelled.
SPEAKER_00You've said way worse than that.
SPEAKER_03Right. Okay. Oh, I also need to say a big thank you as well to everybody who's come along to one of my eBay live shows and supported it and bought something off us. We pretty much try to do one every week. Our last one was a pop culture show last week. I think we did about 550 plus postage. So about we did about 650 last week on the show, which was brilliant. Thank you, everybody. We actually had a a£1,000 plus day on eBay on that same day. So obviously the eBay Live helped. And then they did about 400 quid on eBay normal on the same day. So I think that may be the first time we've ever had a£1,000 plus day on just eBay alone. So thank you everybody for your support. I appreciate you all coming and buying stuff uh from the show. Hopefully, you make some money from it or you keep it for yourself. I don't care what you do with stuff that you buy from us. And we've got a car boot show this week. Not sure what day it's gonna be, so keep your eye out on the socials for that. Because we did it, we had a really good show a couple of weeks ago when we did the car boot show, didn't we? Like completely random items, stuff for everybody.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, a bit of not for everyone.
SPEAKER_03So, yeah, look out for that. It's gonna be this week. I'm guessing it's probably going to be either Wednesday or Thursday. So keep an eye out. I appreciate if you come along and support. You don't need to buy, but if you see something you like, go for it. You might get it for a quid. Not me, the other. Andrew Milburn says, not me the other, Andrew.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's like he's well he's well putting himself out. Don't blame all Andrews. Now Kes TV said, what are buns?
SPEAKER_03Buns. Well, for those listening, do you want to describe what buns are and the various connotations, please? Well, the buns are meant. Oh buns. I've forgotten what you even meant now.
SPEAKER_00I was talking about the hair buns. Star Wars buns. Star Wars hair buns talking about. But some gifted ladies have have larger buns. Some ladies would say it's a curse. Have larger buns than others. Yeah, I don't have a very large set of buns, and my buns, to be fair, are broken these days now.
SPEAKER_03No, you don't want bells buns. You don't want my buns. Seriously.
SPEAKER_00My buns are rubbish. My my buns have got all sorts going on.
SPEAKER_03Bell's buns are contaminated, aren't they?
SPEAKER_00With a radioactive today, I've been being in the CT machine. But yeah, so I have problematic buns. There we go.
SPEAKER_03Well, this went downhill quick tonight, didn't it?
SPEAKER_00I know. And do you remember when this when I first got diagnosed with breast cancer? You know what my sister said to me to lighten the mood? She went, You'd think if God was going to give you breast cancer, we'd at least given you a decent pair of breasts to have them with. I was like, thanks. Yeah. I was like, thanks, sis. Fair enough. Ah well. Big jugs are a curse.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, Mzen said big jugs are a curse.
SPEAKER_00I wouldn't know. I wouldn't know.
SPEAKER_03Oh, there you go. Christana says you can get sausages with buns.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03Oh, we're going now. To be fair, Paula Marie had sausages in their buns in the latest video. So if you want to see Paula Marie's sausage and buns, go ahead and watch their last video. In fact, I think it was on Breaking Free with Paula Marie, not the reselling channel. I think it were on that one. I don't know, I get confused with so many channels now.
SPEAKER_00See the joy of the English language, buns means so many things.
SPEAKER_03You know what? Like I understand totally why people from other countries haven't got a clue about what we're talking about half the time. Because we have so many different meanings for the same word. Well, what if you've got buns?
SPEAKER_00You've got bread buns, you've got cake buns. Do we need this buns? Hair buns. You've got sometimes bottoms are referred to buns. And now we've got breath buns. Buns could be anything. Well, not quite anything, mate. El Ravente said I had a CT scan in January. It's quite interesting. That warm feeling you get after the CT scan feels like you've had a movement. Um I was more concerned that I'd had because obviously it's the top half of me, so I had to have my arms literally in if I can get my arms up in this position, and I was in that position for about 40 minutes. So when it came to actually getting out of the machine, I couldn't get out. I couldn't move my arms. They had to physically move my arms for me so that I could get up. So that'll be fun when I've got to do that every day for 10 days soon.
SPEAKER_03Hot cross buns.
SPEAKER_00Hot cross buns. I saw news that bee venom is used is being used to treat breast cancer and it's destroying the cancer. Nature is amazing. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_03Didn't hear that one before?
SPEAKER_00Bee venom. I don't know how I feel about that. I don't nobody likes being stung.
SPEAKER_03I don't think they actually sting you, I think they extract the venom from the city.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but it's the venom going in you that hurts, so I'm like they probably refine it and do something to it, don't they?
SPEAKER_03Just stick a load of bee venom in there and it's like, hey, Brent, cancer free.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Chris Tyler says, someone clip this and send it to Carboot Chris. Yes.
SPEAKER_00Um this is exactly the sort of clips that this is what the kind of thing I want, but I don't want to feature my own channel.
SPEAKER_03It's not self-promotion. I want to promote other channels. Uh yeah, that this kind of thing that we need. Okay, I think we should do the duck race now because afterwards I want to talk about a bit of a trend that seems to be coming up in America with reselling. It's a bit wild. I'm not sure I've seen anybody do anything like this here in the UK, but we're gonna talk about it and get get your views. Uh, another fellow YouTuber reseller over in the States has made this video and he's looking for opinions on it so that he can bring it up again in the future. So I thought I'd feature it because I thought it was an interesting topic. But that's all I'm gonna give you because I want you to stick around after the duck race and come back and let's talk about this next thing. So, are we ready for the duck race? You're doing the commentary tonight, babe, because you've not been here for about six weeks.
SPEAKER_00Because I wasn't expecting that.
SPEAKER_03Right, yeah, whilst I'm lining the duck race up, do you want to tell everybody and the people listening how they might be able to enter our duck race?
SPEAKER_00Been that long since I've been, I forgot.
SPEAKER_03Oh, right, okay.
SPEAKER_00Now, if you would like to enter our free Oh, hang on, hang on, hang on.
SPEAKER_04Let's wait into that.
SPEAKER_03Um you've got to give me a nudge when you're gonna do that.
SPEAKER_00When you're gonna say I had a nudge in and gone, what?
SPEAKER_03If you're gonna say something that I need a VT for, give me some warning.
SPEAKER_00I didn't know I was gonna say it until I said it. Yeah, if you want to enter the duck race, it's it's for free. Um so all you've got to do after the show is finished, come back to the video and in the comment section below, just leave us a comment, preferably a nice one. And some people just put duck race, and that will automatically enter you into the next week's duck race. And you can win all sorts of random little prizes, which speaking of prizes, we do put some of them forward ourselves when we find them, but people do donate. Like this week, it's being donated by Emsden, which we're very grateful for because it does help us out. But if anybody comes across anything this Is worth going for the duck prize. Duck I can't say this duck race prize. Then just give Chris a drop Chris a line and let us know.
SPEAKER_03Send me a message. Love to have people donate prizes. It helps us a lot. Okay, are we ready?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, just a just something fun and free. You didn't nudge me. God, you're funny.
SPEAKER_03Right, here we go.
SPEAKER_00Not seen that film in years.
SPEAKER_03Classic.
SPEAKER_00One of my favourite Christmas films.
SPEAKER_03It's gotta be one of the best, hasn't it?
SPEAKER_00I love it.
SPEAKER_03I'm just finding up the duck raise hand myself.
SPEAKER_00Did we were we supposed to pull a face?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we can do now. You ready?
SPEAKER_04Here we go. You ready?
SPEAKER_00And we are off. And every single duck has left that line in one go. I can't read a single name. No, down at the bottom with Carbooth Keith, just above that I can see Titch, Helen Graham, Cloud9 Allotment, Lisa, Paul Hillman, Chris Tyler, Ready Steady Retro, with us loads of people up in the front of the pack at the moment. Oh look, Carboot Chris is in there again. Get in there. One of these days you are going to win your winning already. I've won it. Lynn Lynn was up at the front, but slowly making her way back. Yes, she is showing what this weather is like wearing the woolly hat. Peter Ray's world is up at the top. I think he's a naked duck. Yeah, he definitely is. He's naked. Uh Sandra Parker is in the middle, but at the moment, Cavallis is holding the pack up. He's a naked duck as well, or she, are they? Mark Hill is bobbing along down at the bottom there, trying to push his way to the front, along with Deborah Nardone up at the top of the field. Ready Steady Retro is a little strawberry hat on with Chris Tyler just below him. Caboot Chris needs to bugger off because he's not winning again. Speedfoot Flips is a lot, isn't it? Oh, we've got a whole pack of Naked Ducks here, barring Carboot Chris and Ready Steady Retro. We do know Naked Ducks have a better chance of winning, which is great. This pack isn't changing much at the minute. We're down to the last 45 seconds. Speedfoot Flips is still holding it their own down at the bottom, and Peter Ray is still up at the top. Chris Tyler still holding on their middle. Karen Evans has pushed their way to the front to have a nosy, along with 49 Toddy and Jeff Davis. Alex Max is there as well, along with Dorothy Watkins and Titch. God, this could be anybody's race. Now it's Phil Higginson. I don't think I've seen so many people change to the front.
SPEAKER_03Simon Ducks.
SPEAKER_00Simon Elliott.
SPEAKER_03They're not people then.
SPEAKER_00Well, they are now. Right, the pack is splitting, so let's see. We've last 14 seconds. Who is this going to be? We've got Simon Elliott, 49 Toddy, Titch and Speedful Flips. No, it's not 49 Toddy. They have given up. So is Simon Elliott. Who's coming through there? It could be Emptem. Emstem, the little strawberry. No. Is going to win their own prize. It's just cheap. I think we need to change this week's prize.
SPEAKER_04Oh, for God's sake. What are the odds? That is funny. What are the odds? Emsden provided the prize and they've only gone on one race. Right. Ensden, keep your prize.
SPEAKER_00We'll do that another week. And we'll send you somewhere else out.
SPEAKER_04For crying out loud.
SPEAKER_00Turn you quacking off. Emsden, we will send you a prize. What was the prize? It was a bunch of ducks that Emsden had bought. Yeah. Who was no, it's fine, Ensden. We'll swap the prizes. We'll do yours next week. Yeah. And we'll send you something out.
SPEAKER_03We'll give yours away next week. So Emsden's prize will roll over to next week, and we will provide tonight's prize. Just when you think you got away with a prize.
SPEAKER_00That was funny.
SPEAKER_03Oh my.
SPEAKER_00Everyone's going to be putting prizes for with now, just so they've got a chance of winning the duck race.
SPEAKER_03What's the odds on that? I mean, there were I don't know how many ducks there were in the race. It was obviously 40 to 1 or whatever it was.
SPEAKER_00That was good.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Well done, Ems Den. You get to be in the Christmas champion race.
SPEAKER_00Champions of Champions.
SPEAKER_03Champion of Champions.
SPEAKER_00This this show's just full of surprises today.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so I want to talk about something that I saw on Pegasus Lounge Mason T's channel. If you've ever watched Pegasus, I quite enjoy watching his channel. He is actually going to come on the podcast at some point. That should be a very, very interesting podcast. If you've ever watched his channel, he's got some interesting views, and he has already agreed to come on the podcast. We're just going to wait for the right moment and for me to be brave enough to interview Mason T. But anyway, I was watching his channel and his most, I think it's his most recent or definitely within his last two videos. I'll ping up his channel on the screen just so that you can see. Oh, by the way, Rachel says we don't freeze anymore.
SPEAKER_00So we did that.
SPEAKER_03We did the funny face for nothing.
SPEAKER_00That's a shame.
SPEAKER_03Let me just share. I'll share. I'll share the channel. Send them some Frankfurter sausages. Oh, yeah, that's a good idea. Okay, so on the screen now you can see Pegasus Lounge's channel. And down here, this one, the one that's entitled What Happens If Sourcing, if this Sourcing Trend Continues. He's done a little video down here, the one that's running just with the thumbnail that's moving at the moment. This one here. Give it a watch and go comment yourself on his channel. It's very, very interesting. And basically, what it seems to be happening is over in the States, of course, it would be over in the States. There's two things that that that is happening, right? One on one side of it, there's somebody that goes into a goodwill bins. We've been to the bins, haven't we? They go to the bins, right? They obviously have an agreement with the goodwill store, right? And they pick out loads of stuff that they think might be worth something. And then they go and set up their camera in the corner of the shop and they run a Whatnot show.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_03Or it might be eBay Live, not sure. It's one of the live selling platforms, Whatnot or eBay Live. I think it was Whatnot. They run a Whatnot show, they sell the stuff that they picked out of the bins, they go and pay for the items that they sold, and anything they didn't sell, they put back in the bins.
SPEAKER_00That's like free stock.
SPEAKER_03Well, technically, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I guess it's like a consignment.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, kind of, isn't it? But yeah, it's kind of a no obligation. They literally go in there, pick out the stuff out of the bins, go and run a show, pay for the items that sold, put the items that didn't sell back. Wow.
SPEAKER_00I'm not so sure what the goodwills are getting out of that because maybe they agree to pay a bit more for it.
SPEAKER_03Or maybe they pay a fee to do it, an extra fee or something.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because other than that, technically, had they not been selling it live, they would have bought all that stuff and then tried to sell it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Not putting some of it back.
SPEAKER_03They must be getting something out of it, otherwise, why would you? And also, why wouldn't the why wouldn't Goodwills just do that themselves and make more money? Why don't you just have one member of staff in a morning, go round the bins? You could do it in a charity shop. Brick a bracket. Yeah, I know, yeah, yeah. You wouldn't even make any money, would you? Yeah, just send a staff member around, go and run a show. Go and run a show all e all day. Just pick items out of the bins, pick items out of the charity shop and sell it. I mean, I'm sure there are there are charities on live selling platforms like eBay Live and uh whatnot. There are charities on there, definitely. But it'd be interesting to see them actually live in their shop while you know while it's open or something, just trying to sell stuff.
SPEAKER_00Lisa said maybe more sales as maybe they do more shows.
unknownOkay?
SPEAKER_00Maybe more sales as maybe they do more shows. Hmm.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. I think I guess the difference though, Ross, with this one, with Chaddy and Pete, Chaddy Pete, and Lola is that they're in a closed environment there. They're in like a warehouse with, you know, they've obviously got an agreement with the warehouse owners and uh they're in a closed environment. But to do it in public, to walk round a charity shop, pick out items to sell, and put back the stuff that doesn't sell. I think that I mean they've got a great deal going on there, haven't they? Whatever deal they've got going on, that's great.
SPEAKER_00Well, I'm not so sure how well that could take off, though, because there's only so many people they could have in. I don't really imagine that doing live shows selling from the shops.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I've seen, yeah, there's been resellers do shows from the back of the charity shops for the charity. I've never seen one for a profit-making initiative.
SPEAKER_00I think the rag house is a bit different to the bid.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, definitely different. That's a whole different colour of fish. I think there's a lot. I mean, rag houses are doing their own live selling now anyway, so it's kind of a bit redundant that there's quite a lot of big wholesalers that do their own live selling, they cherry-pick stuff now.
SPEAKER_00Linland said there's a whatnot show from Ireland selling live from second-hand clothing shops. That's interesting. Some people are doing that.
SPEAKER_03It's just interesting to chat about it, right? There's a second part to this as well. There was another thing that Mason T. Pegasus Lounge found was there was a guy, right? A YouTuber. He was going round the charity, like a thrift store in the US, right? And he finds something on the rails. I don't, I'm guessing he was live on whatnot at the time, okay? So imagine this: walking round a charity shop live on whatnot. He picks out a shirt that's worth some money. I think it was like uh a national lampoon Christmas shirt thing. So he picks that out and he puts it, it rests it on the rail like this. He turns it round so that you can see the whole shirt. He reads out to all the viewers, this is a size XX, whatever, made by with the brand. He types it in, he creates a listing on whatnot, and he sells it right there.
SPEAKER_00And then that is definitely live selling.
SPEAKER_03He sells it and get this. He's not even paid for it yet.
SPEAKER_00He sold it.
SPEAKER_03He sold it 30 seconds, it went up to 50, it was$4.99 in the shop. The auction, he he showed the screenshot, the auction went to$51. And obviously after that, he'd sold the item, he went up to the till paid for it$4.99. But who's right, in the UK, this wouldn't happen because charity shops they don't like you filming anyway. But if they saw you stood there doing an auction all night and they'd kick off and you'd be out the door.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but the charity shops in America are humongous, there's a lot more space.
SPEAKER_03You wouldn't even be seen, would you? Because everyone's on their phones, everyone's scanning stuff in America.
SPEAKER_00They're massive. You can literally get lost in them.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, people are looking on their phones everywhere, so you probably wouldn't even know that you were selling something there and then, but it's weird.
SPEAKER_00It's ingenious, really.
SPEAKER_03I know, tell me.
SPEAKER_00It is ingenious, selling it before you've even bought it. That's that's that I'm gonna give it to him.
SPEAKER_03But right, I I'd encourage you to just go over. Oh, sorry, let me just take Lin Lynn off there for a second. Go over to Pegasus Lounge's video here, find that video, watch it. It's only five minutes long, five minutes, and just drop a comment on his video and let him know what you think. Because he's gonna swing round back round to that video again and discuss it in some more detail. He goes into a lot of detail on his videos, so it's worth a watch. And I just thought it was a really interesting discussion point for this show tonight.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Lisa said I saw a charity shop on eBay live, can't remember the name, but it was one of the big brands.
SPEAKER_03There's there's a lot of charities on both the platforms. And you know what?
SPEAKER_00Absolutely It's about time they moved into well, you said this long ago, moving more into the digital world.
SPEAKER_03Jeff says those Americans can be pretty brazen.
SPEAKER_00Chris says some YouTubers, TikTokers order items from places like very little do try on demo videos and return the items. They do, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah, I see what you mean.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they'll just try to try number order loads of stuff from places and then take it all back. Imagine the complaints in the comments. Elrevan said, given the UK shoplifting epidemic, people might be doing whatnots asking things to steal. Yeah. Uh though I wouldn't put it past some people.
SPEAKER_03Definitely.
SPEAKER_00Everything here is huge. Oh, Jeff, we're not even going there. You do this to us all the time. We think you're lovely. Lamb said it's not the same, but I've seen clothes listed on eBay that are photographed on the hanger in the shop. I presume that if the item sells, then the seller goes to the shop and buys it to post out. But then you've got a chance of it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, someone else could buy it, anyway.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it not being there.
SPEAKER_03I wonder I wonder why and what the reasoning is for for that. Maybe it's a time saver while they're in there, they pick it up, take a picture, and then they just use that picture later on after they bought it.
SPEAKER_00Alex said, Chris, have you or any of your viewers tried eBay Developers Programme?
SPEAKER_03I'm sure somebody has. There you go. God, Cookie's snoring loudly tonight. Where is she?
SPEAKER_00Down there, she's flat out.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, out of it, isn't she? So there, I th I just thought it was interesting. What do you think about that? I mean, it's pretty brazen, isn't it? Like doing a whatnot on something in the shop and you've not even paid for it yet.
SPEAKER_00I honestly think that if you can do it, that's a bloody good why why not? You save your death pile.
SPEAKER_03That's true.
SPEAKER_00Never have a death pile, never never makes it as far as being put in a room at home. You're just gonna bring it back, pack it, and can you imagine, right?
SPEAKER_03Listen to this, right? Imagine this.
SPEAKER_00It cut I was just gonna say though, it's got to be pretty confusing because depending how many items you sell, unless you're like bagging and tagging them while you're there.
SPEAKER_03No, but he's writing it, he's writing the listing out, so he's putting what it is within the title so he knows exactly what's sold.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_03So imagine this. I go to car boot sale, start start or whatnot. I start an eBay live because I'm on eBay live now, right? So I start an eBay live as I walk through the car boot sale. I'm like, hey guys, eBay Live, welcome everybody. I'm at the car boot sale. I'm gonna see what we can find to auction live here now. And I'm going around and I'm like, how much is how much are your trainers, mate? Oh, they're a fiver. Okay. I'm gonna and then you pick them up and you start auctioning them off. And then either you pay for them first or you pay for them after, but it's pretty brazing, isn't it? I don't think you'd last very long at the car boot sale, do you? I think you get kicked out pretty quick. I think the only way you get away with it is if you bought everything and then go go back to your car and set up a tripod at the boot of your car and then sell it all live. You could you could have everything sold before you get back home. Can you imagine that? It's in and out. It's not you you don't even need storage anymore, do you?
SPEAKER_00It's just typical of life. What an idea that is. Typical of life at the moment. You want everything fast paced out there. Everything fast paced.
SPEAKER_03I'll tell you what though, it's not a bad idea.
SPEAKER_00You imagine you're on your own. I'm not doing that with you.
SPEAKER_03We could do a live from the back of the car after a boot sale. You could go to Mackey's car park across the road, Mackey D's car park, instead of doing it right right in the boot sale. Sell it all live, try and at least double your money. Job's a good one, isn't it?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Ryan like said it seems to be primary car items that they do that with as they don't as they don't deliver and not everyone lives near a shop.
SPEAKER_03Ah.
SPEAKER_00So they do try-ons. Daniel says, Daniel, Daniel says, can't condone it, but my sister made a living whilst having chemo, buying from next massively reduced and selling on. If it didn't sell, she could take it back within 30 minutes.
SPEAKER_03That's that a lot of people can do that, Daniel. A lot of people do that. And that's that's one of the bonuses in doing retail arbitrage, and you could do that to TK Max. A lot of people buy stuff reduced from TK Max, or even full price sometimes can be good, can be good deals in there. You can buy it, you can try and sell it within a f two weeks or a month or whatever. If it doesn't sell, take it back and get your money back. It's almost like, you know, no risk. No risk. People do do it.
SPEAKER_00El Raventa, I'm seeing more and more people calling people out on Facebook for selling items from home bargains on vintage, but most people said good luck to them. Look, retail arbitrage happens, it doesn't matter where you buy it from. That that's that's part of life, isn't it? If you're going to people at most stuff that goes onto things like Amazon tend to be retail arbitrage, don't they? I know what you've just seen, and we were in a show, so I have just seen that, yeah. But yeah, you know, it Amazon and places like that, a lot of most of that will be retail arbitrary. That'll be people finding and buying stuff cheap and selling it on. So I don't see why there's a problem with that. It don't matter where your stock comes from. Isn't the whole reselling business finding it cheap and selling it on, whether it's new or second hand?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, oh yeah, definitely. Uh Pepsi, even yeah, I've just seen it there. Just when you saw that, I thought, oh, go and have a look. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Thanks for distracting. Thanks for distracting him.
SPEAKER_03It's not a surprise, is it? It's not a secret.
SPEAKER_00There's one thing that's going to distract him, it will be that.
SPEAKER_03Oh no. 10 years, 20 trophies. What can you say? What can you say to that?
SPEAKER_00Use a drone, zoom in and see what people on a live want. That is a good idea.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, have it whizzing round the car boot. Let us know if you see something you want. Yeah, can you get that off that store for me?
SPEAKER_00Thanks. But yeah, no, it's an interesting concept. I think you'd have to be quite bracent, like Jeff said, to do it. So I'm not so sure it would take off massively over here, like doing it in public, because we are a little bit more cagey, aren't we, in the UK?
SPEAKER_03We're very much more reserved with stuff like that. So I don't know how you'd not get away with standing in a charity shop here in the UK and selling something. Certainly that you've not bought yet. You've no chance, you get kicked out.
SPEAKER_00I mean, like you said, most people moan if you've got a camera on to film, let alone if you're live doing something.
SPEAKER_03But I do think there could be something in like live selling at the end of your sourcing session when you're finished. I mean as long as you're willing to let things go cheaper than what it would be to that if you for you to take the time to actually list something on eBay and vintage and stuff, because most of the time live selling goes cheaper. But if you're happy with a quicker flip and you don't even want to store this stuff, you just want it in and out, and you know, you can take it home and package it up and send it out, and it's not even going to go into a storage system, then why the hell not?
SPEAKER_00You could how is this any different than the people who show up at a cowboot with an empty table, go around, buy stuff and then sell it to people?
SPEAKER_03Very similar.
SPEAKER_00It's just the same, isn't it? But you're doing it in person.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's very similar to that.
SPEAKER_00Wow. Rachel, fantastic. I think it's a great idea.
SPEAKER_03I've said this before. I've said this before. And also I've told her she needs to do a one pound store one day as well. She'd fly with that.
SPEAKER_00Did she ever do her honesty box store?
SPEAKER_03No. Not brave enough. Could do an eBay live though, for sure.
SPEAKER_00I wouldn't bother. That that came from the cake stand things, and that's all started to go to. I know that, but I can't say that, can I? Well, right. You can say what you like, can't I? Okay. Yeah. That's starting to go to right shit round here, aren't it? It's war, babe. This is a family channel. Because people are starting to steal and not leave the money. So that's our answer to should we do honesty boxes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Rachel says, trouble is you need a laptop as well as mobile. Yeah, that's a bit of a downer, isn't it? At the moment, anyway. But you could do whatnot, because that you only need your phone, don't you?
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_03I think it would be very complicated to run a car boot and try and go live as well. I mean, for starters, the minute you turn your back on your phone, someone's gonna nick it, aren't they? Someone's gonna nick your tripod and run off with it.
SPEAKER_00How about offering a service to buyers who can't make it to a particular boot sale plea market stream live and they can tell you what they want to buy for them for a free for a fee, of course? That's a that's a good idea, that actually.
SPEAKER_03Jeff's thinking outside the box now.
SPEAKER_00That is that is a service that like we we've had on here, people say they watch the channel and they like to watch the people walking around at the boot sale videos because they physically can't get out of the house, so we they like interacting that way. How good would it be if they could actually buy stuff from you? They could literally like look at the stalls and buy stuff, and then you'd post it out to them. Yeah, it's after the watershed belly's fine. That's a good. idea that Jeff.
SPEAKER_03Good idea.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I reckon Jeff could get that running and uh go around his flea markets and let us know how it goes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Offer his services. Jeff and Tracy.
SPEAKER_00Bit like when people go and like buy all your clothes for what are they called? Like personal shoppers. Yes.
SPEAKER_03Carb car personal shoppers. There you go. That's it. People people um what they go like around Harrods and stuff, don't they? And they'll shop for you and stuff.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Good idea. I like it. You see we're getting we're brainstorming here. We're brainstorming money making ideas.
SPEAKER_00I don't think I've ever seen anything like that out there.
SPEAKER_03No, definitely not. See Belle's thinking now. She's thinking oh what can I do? Our venta says what does he say here?
SPEAKER_00Bobby regularly live streams into drinking with Andrew. He once came on the chat live from a thrift store and was asking us our opinion on what to buy was like a computer game.
SPEAKER_03Yeah he does do that yeah he does I've not seen him on online for a bit he does pop in here and he gives me like two dollar super chats but I've not seen him for a while like on a video type thing. He did a podcast with me once didn't he? Yeah yeah his driving terrifies me yeah no he's always driving around eating his burritos and driving and he's live on YouTube.
SPEAKER_00So is this the one that changes his name all the time it's Rob yeah he's changed in New York on YouTube.
SPEAKER_03Bobby was on drinking with Andrew two Fridays ago oh okay I missed that one. Do sometimes tune in Rachel should do a lucky dip from her merch bags five pounds for a full bag that's a good idea because you see these you see charity shops now selling mystery bags don't you with clothing and stuff in it you know a full bag for a fiver or something I think so if thrift went to one where she got five pound bags filler bag or whatever for or is it a mystery bag?
SPEAKER_00It's a mystery bag not filler bag but yeah with all that women's clothing in it and stuff would you buy a charity shop mystery bag full of clothing for a fiver would you bother well because a lot of the time I'm buying for myself when I go into places like that so I'd be tempted I mean to be fair I kind of did the other week didn't I off Facebook Marketplace because someone advertised a bag full of women's clothes in my size in a size 12 but she she was just like I'm not gonna listen I can't tell you everything that's in it it's just I think it was like a fiver wasn't it a fiver and I just went well for a fiver even if I get one item out of it that fits me and looks alright then it's a bonus. And actually got a few bits out of it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah you did so yeah I probably would do but on that note Chris says Rachel should do one five pound fill with a full bag but I think her bags are three pounds so she'd have to do it like eight pounds to get a clear fiver or a or ten pound for a full bag but then that might be too much.
SPEAKER_00I don't know says I just buy random stuff on Andrew on on eBay live that's well worth it needed a t-shirt to wear today and it did the job thanks to Andrew's eBay Live.
SPEAKER_03There you go do you know I don't I've not actually watched an eBay live yet no nothing no Vince says what do you think about GameStop trying to buy eBay I've watched a few videos on it did you watch um I did watch in the end because somebody said watch it thingy did an interview didn't he oh I watch him all the time his name's gone out of my head now Justin Justin Riesells actually managed to interview the GameStop CEO and that was interesting that was an interesting chat so interesting chat well that's worth a watch Justin Reesells managed to get an interview with the guy. Queen of Conquest not had a statement from City yet Repep leaving it's tabloid news so far I'm at Villa on Sunday then the parade Monday so I'm sure we'll know if it's true yeah it looks like it's true he I've just seen some stuff on Twitter but obviously I've not seen a an official statement but you tend to know if it comes out like that it will be when it starts leaking I think I think that's it then isn't it but you can't blame him I I honestly thought he might see his contract out you know another year but maybe he thinks you know he's won two trophies this year which is great so maybe he's thinking leave on a high leave on a high you risk doing another year and maybe not winning a trophy and going on that but to win a double at least a double is good.
SPEAKER_00Jeff says business I'm thinking of starting at airports all the pocket knives and other contraband that security flags as cannot fly prepaid posted drop your knives in a small box and get it back through the bones Jeff you're full of good ideas you need to brainstorm with Jeff when you're trying to come up with new stuff.
SPEAKER_03He clearly likes to think outside the box that's probably that's quite a good good idea isn't it Elvan said Piers Morgan interviewed the GameStop CEO yeah Justin Reesell's interviewed him first I think have a look at Justin Riesell's video really good really good interview that interesting as well and it's done on the the the side of a seller so it's a bit more specified to um what we what we feel as sellers oh I've done well if you say I know I think that's our cue isn't it I've done well I've been trying to like keep it suppressed so I do apologize okay guys well I think we're done aren't we I think we've managed to talk about a hell of a lot of stuff there in an hour and 13 minutes and that's pretty good isn't it is it bedtime now yeah it's bedtime you're gonna go put me to bed tuck me in okay are you ready you ready to go to bed cheers okay poor thing Jeff said I'm an ideas man feed the mayonnaise to the tune scared me the reference well thank you everybody for joining in if you're listening on Spotify Apple Music or whatever your favourite audio channel is then uh please feel free to hit that download button and that'll um that'll mean that every single future episode will be automatically served up on your device and yeah thank you everyone for watching here live on a Monday night at eight o'clock I appreciate it if you're listening come and join us one day just once just once come and join us live on YouTube and join in with the chat it's been very very interesting as always have a good bank holiday weekend as well it's bank holiday weekend three days off and there's gonna be a heat wave isn't there heat wave coming up that means some great boot sales coming up as well I think Saturday Sunday Monday is a bit of a heat wave 20 plus degrees well that's a heat wave bank holiday boot is that's what everybody wants it's a heat wave for us anyway anyway guys I'm gonna finish with Chris's final thought okay and then we are out so Belle bagged the gold while I struck out and that's reselling for you some days you're the buyer some days you're the learner but here's the trick even on an empty handed day you're gaining knowledge watching learning trends and sharpening instincts next time I'll be ready until then keep learning keep flipping and take care of yourselves and each other that's it for today's episode don't forget to like or make a comment I always reply to comment and if you're on YouTube hit the subscribe button if you're on one of the audio channels hit the download button and we'll see you next time
